    Dr. Mark Fischer

Dr. Mark Fischer was born in Boston and grew up on Long Island, New York. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Hofstra University.

After working in the manufacturing and robotics industries, Dr. Fischer decided he wanted to do something more fulfilling and set his sights on a career as an orthodontist. This was an easy choice as it allowed him to apply the technical and scientific skills he developed while in the manufacturing industry to the specialty of orthodontics, where bio-engineering and art are combined to produce an esthetic smile with ideal function.

He was accepted to the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine and received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1994. During his undergraduate dental training, he worked as a research assistant in an on-going study in cranio-facial growth and development. In addition, he was recognized with the AADPA/ODTPA award for Excellence in Dental Practice Administration.

Dr. Fischer was accepted to the orthodontic residency program at the University of Connecticut Graduate School of Dental Medicine for his specialty training in orthodontics. This required an additional three years of study and the completion of a research project and thesis at the Master’s level in addition to his studies in the orthodontic department. Here he received specialized training in biomechanics from a leading researcher and professor in that field, Dr. Charles Burstone. Dr. Fischer received his Master of Science in Dentistry and Certificate in Orthodontics in 1997.

Dr. Fischer is a member of the American Dental Association, the Maine Dental Association, the Portland Dental Society, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Northeast Society of Orthodontists and the Maine Society of Orthodontists. He is Invisalign® certified to treat both adults and teens and offers a full range of esthetic, metal and self-ligation braces.

Dr. Fischer and his wife, Teresa, opened their practice in Yarmouth in 2003. Outside of the office, Dr. Fischer enjoys spending time with his family, reading, photography, and he will happily discuss anything automotive.

Dr. Fischer believes in giving back to the community. He has participated in the Dental Lifeline Network™, formerly Donated Dental Services, since 2007. This is an organization of dentists and orthodontists who provide no-cost dental and orthodontic treatment to underprivileged individuals.
